Taman Tebrau market

Posted in food,Johor Bahru, malaysia by chrisau on October 13, 2008

One the usual ‘makan’ hangouts for locals and Singaporeans in JB is the tebrau market. Over here, there are lots of food stalls selling a variety of local food. It’s mainly chinese stalls with a few malay/mamak stores at a corner. The place is usually alive at night while the food hawkers will usually open their stall in the late afternoon.

Located at the heart of JB city and sandwiched between the three top housing estates – Taman Pelangi, Taman Sentosa and Taman Tebrau, it’s not difficult to locate this place which is also near to JB’s popular night spots, bridal shops and shopping centres.

I especially love the ‘ikan bakar’ (bbq fish) with spicy gravy. Usually, I will asked for extras like ladyfingers and ‘petai’ to be served together with the bbq fish. Together with a freshing glass of sugar cane with lemon, it makes a great light supper!
