Breakfast and Dinner on my Birthday

Posted in japanese food,Johor Bahru, malaysia by chrisau on September 1, 2009

More excuses for me to indulge in good food today! Yeap, I’m another year older today and like a kid, demanded my wife to eat this and that …LOL.

Ok, here’s a start to the day, I had a great breakfast at Lavender’s Bistro. It’s been a while since I had a breakfast there and it’s great to be back. I simply loved their Healthy Breakfast set, especially the raisin wheatbread.

Come dinner, I have a craving for Japanese food and thought it’s a good idea to get some bites on sushis. Here’s a plateย  – jellyfish, crab, salmon…….

Miso Ramen, that’s what my wife ordered. I simply like their miso soup which is so appetising. Well, in my opinion, the best ramen are the Japanese type (my opinion only ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Here’s what I had – Udon.It actually comes with a set of chawanmushi, a plate of sushi and fruits. I don’t quite prefered Udon due to it’s thick noodle but since ramen is ordered, I decided to have it.

Japanese theme foodcourt

Posted in japanese food, singapore by chrisau on June 11, 2009

I was amazed that there’s a foodcourt which only sells japanese food at the newly renovated and expanded Northpoint Shopping centre in Singapore.ย  It’s call Ishi Mura, and there were various stalls which sell donburi (Japanese rice), Japanese pizza, Ramen, Bento, sushi/sashimi, rice burgers and etc.

Quite a nice place to be around. It’s nicely renovated, clean and presentable and the food are not as expensive as actual Japanese restaurant. Anyway, it can be very crowded during the peak hours.

Another view of the foodcourt. It was quite late then, thus the place is less crowded.

This is what I had for dinner cum supper. Teriyaki chicken donburi cooked in hot pot which produces crackling sound. You have to stir it quick else the rice, chicken and egg may get overcooked and burned. Very appetising, especially I was hungry then.

Ishi Mura is located at #03-47/50, Northpoint Shopping Centre.

Don Sushi@JB again….

Posted in japanese food,Johor Bahru, malaysia by chrisau on December 22, 2008

It was last friday night and been a long week! It’s not really because of work but it’s the struggle between laziness due to the holidays and discipline to get the engine moving. ๐Ÿ˜€ Thus, looking forward to the weekend , which packaged with a kid’s xmas party (yeap, it’s for my kid…) I decided to eat something good and different. The thought of Japanese food comes to my mind. Yeap, my family and I went to Don Sushi again.

This time around, I manage to catch a picture of the restaurant with my Nokia camera.

Salmon temaki….yummy…. !! One of my favourite temaki with juicy fresh salmon.

As above, a nice plate of california maki to go along with. ๐Ÿ™‚

I ordered a salmon teriyaki rice set which comes with the below side dishes – agedashi tofu and cawanmushi, and not forgetting a delicious bowl of rice!ย  I simply loves cawanmushi!!

And not forgetting what my wife ordered, a healthy vegetarian ramen as above. It’s real hot, look at the smoke coming out from it. The soup was great and that what makes good ramen!

Don Sushi is located at:- 299A, Jalan Sutera, Taman Sentosa, JB.

There are also a few Don Sushi outlets around JB, in Tesco Tebrau City and Carrefour near Taman Molek.

This is one of the sushi chains found in JB besides the bigger Sushi King, which is all over Malaysia. There are several outlets in JB and the biggest one can be found at Taman Sentosa, sort like a 15mins drive from the custom. Well, besides can enjoy affordable japanese food, the food is actually good over there. Loads of varieties of sushis, ramens, dons and etc to choose from, they also offered buffet at RM40+ per head.

Check out the seafood ramen I had. This is my favourite!! I simply love the soup, though I don’t like having cooked salmon there which disintegrate easily.

Teriyaki Chicken….. the favourite for those conservative ones who still can’t take the raw thing….:)

In my opinion, they have one of the best chawanmushi in town. This is something which I won’t miss in Don Sushi. I may give others like Sushi King a pass on chawanmushi but not here. This is a must in Don Sushi. It’s sweet and the egg is smooth.

Yup, I had my favourite salmon teriyaki here, which comes with miso soup, cold tofu and a salad. I also tried my favourite salmon maki and sushi and that makes a great meal on a saturday night. ๐Ÿ™‚
